Magnetic Speed Transducer Pre-amps

preamps for magnetic speed transducers

Magnetic Speed Transducer Pre-amplifier Spec Sheet Download:

  • Converts low level output signals from VRS speed transducers into stable square wave pulses.
  • Extends the application range and signal distance of magnetic speed transducers.

Our pre-amps are easy to install in the field with a variety of models offered: inline to match MS connectors, a puck form to fit conduit-mount junction boxes, or installed in a separate DIN rail mounting enclosure. The pre-amp's DC input covers a wide range of DC power supplies without any adjustment necessary.

Applications of noise canceling pulse amps are in industrial environments with high ambient electrical noise levels from nearby sources. Refer to our Speed Transducers Configurations for more housing configurations.

Our pre-amps work with magnetic speed transducers and can be situated up to 500 feet from the transducer. These pre-amps convert low level signals from the transducer into stable square wave pulses. Pre-amps allow engineers to derive digital signals from speed transducers that are in high temperature or harsh environments, which rule out the use of active magnetic speed transducers.

Noise canceling pulse amplifier for magnetic speed transducersThe Noise Canceling Pulse Amplifier provides superior noise rejection and input signal amplification with an unmatched variety of output configurations. This rugged amplifier is specifically designed for tough pipeline, offshore platform and severe industrial applications. The noise canceling pulse amplifier optimizes the performance of our unique 3 wire noise canceling magnetic speed transducer, but also provides superior performance for standard two wire variable reluctance speed transducer. Pre-amp input sensitivities available are 5 mVpp, 12 mVpp, 40 mVpp, and 100 mVpp. The amplifier is equipped with overheat shutdown capability.

The pulse amplifier's maximum features can be realized with the additional Terminal II option which can be set up as an opto-isolated output pre-amp providing increased security. It can also be configured as an On-Line mobile proving hook-up for attaching maintenance and calibration devices without interrupting or interfering with the main signal output.

The Model 4021 signal conditioner's DC power supply input accepts 5 to 40 Vdc input, with no adjusting necessary, with “load dump” protection to 60 Vdc. Inputs and outputs are fully protected against short circuits to supply or ground and reverse polarity supply leads. The sensitive amplifier inputs are protected against high frequency EMI and static discharge.

noise canceling Pulse Amplifier for magnetic speed transducersThe Model 4022 Pulse Amplifier signal conditioner has two factory preset input sensitivity levels and four factory preset output configurations. A field changeable version allows outputs of 0 - 5 V (TTL), 0 - 10V or 0 - Vs with open collector(OC). Our intrinsically safe pulse amplifier is approved by FM Global.

Our pre-amps have five configurations to meet most the popular pre-amp needs:

  • Model 4021 pulse amplifier fits into a GUAL-16 enclosure.
  • Model 4022 pulse amplifier has two form factors: the smaller form fits compactly into an Appleton ELBY enclosure and the larger version fits into a Killark Y3 elbow.
  • Model 4023 converter has a puck shape that fits an Elby Y1 elbow for use with a conduit-mount magnetic transducer
  • Model 4024 In-line pre-amps quickly turns all magnetic speed transducers with a standard MS 2 pin connector into active magnetic speed transducers.
  • Model 4024H module easily integrates with many designs for custom transducer pre-amp applications.
