Specialized variable reluctance sensors available: Intrinsically Safe to Zone 0; sanitary and hermetically-sealed; dual output; and additional temperature output.

Our line of active magnetic speed transducers, crankshaft speed sensor, pulse amplifiers and frequency to current signal conditioners are available for passive and active transducer outputs.

Variable Reluctance Sensor Operation:

The magnetic speed transducer's signal output is triggered by a passing ferrous target, such as a gear. As the target moves, the gear wheel's discontinuity excites a voltage in the variable reluctance sensor, producing a resultant output analog wave. The frequency and voltage of the analog signal is proportional to target's velocity.

Our magnetic speed transducers are sensitive, yet very reliable in harsh speed detecting environments that require shock-resistance, such as crankshaft speed sensor applications. Magnetic speed transducers are in applications such as: conveyor belts, slotted wheels, sprockets, bolt heads, ATV tachometers; truck, railroad, and automotive transmissions; in ABS brake systems; and construction equipment.
