Flow Switch Signal Converter

Our Speed Switch signal converter provides adjustable output for controlling devices based on the input from flow detection or speed transducers. Typically, a magnetic speed transducer mounted on a transmission provides the Speed Switch's input frequency. The output from the Speed Switch will be OFF when the frequency falls below the setpoint and ON when the input frequency rises above the adjustable setpoint.

Two versions are available to meet low speed or high speed applications. The Speed Switch fits into a ½ or ¾ NPT ELBY conduit-mount enclosure.

CHARACTERISTICS:
Setpoint Adjustment:   Model 4051-01: 10 - 230 Hz
  Model 4051-02: 75 - 1200 Hz
Response:  50 - 100 mS typical
Temperature Range:  -40 to 185° C (-40 to 85° F)
Signal Output:  Open Collector; two discrete states: ON and OFF
Power Input:  9 - 30 Vdc @ 4 mA
Reverse polarity & high voltage protection to 100 Vac.
 Short circuit protection

Typical applications of the Speed Switch utilizes a magnetic speed transducer to detect the movement of gear teeth and generate a repetitive waveform proportional to the speed of the gear's motion. A magnetic speed transducer connected directly to the speed switch provides decision-making capability for applications such as speed governors, safety controls and motion interlocks.

When used with any active or passive speed transducer the Speed Switch can be set to turn on or off auxiliary devices. The Speed Switch can be set to control the off/on positioning of high current solid state or mechanical relays.

When used with a turbine flowmeter, the Model 4051 acts as a Flow Switch to cause a contact closure at a set flow rate for opening or closing a valve or sounding an alarm.

The Speed Switch is used in industrial equipment for under-speed alarms and over-speed detection or alarms.
